Waiting expectedly for the Lord
This past week the plumbing was installed in our two new foster homes. Pipes and tubs might not seem very emotional to most people but when these were installed, it brought me to tears. You see, the week prior, I was talking to one of our foster children, Chloe, and we were talking about her life at Calvary Home. She told me that her favorite thing about living here was being able to take a warm shower or bath every day. She told me that she takes multiple showers a day because she often went days without washing before moving to Calvary. This might seem like a simple task to most of us, but to her it is a luxury. Seeing the new tubs being installed was yet another reminder of the healing that will be happening in the new foster family homes.
Psalm 147:3 “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
We often do not know the full extent of a child’s trauma or brokenness, but God does. Opening two more homes on campus has been quite the undertaking. Planning, fundraising, and contractors have all added to the busyness surrounding the already busy campus of Calvary Home. These new homes will extend Calvary Home to seven families living on campus and allow us to be the hands and feet of Jesus to up to 16 more children.
We completely understand that the building of the home is just the first step, Chloe reminds us of this. The home is just the vessel where the healing will occur. The home is the place where the family will comfort the broken, feed the hungry, clothe the naked and listen to the lonely. The home is the place where broken and vulnerable children will see through acts of love what the Kingdom of Heaven looks like right here on Earth, they will get to see Jesus in action.
We’re asking each of you to pray with us and for us as we continue to grow. You can see our biggest prayers listed below:
