Since 2002, Calvary Home has cared for children and families across South Carolina
How We Started
-
After the Calvary Home Board was formed in 1998, the first Calvary Home Cottage, Carter Cottage, was completed in 2002. Named in memory of Stephanie Carter, a child who died due to horrific child abuse, this cottage first allowed Calvary Home to begin caring for children who had experienced abuse and/or neglect.
-
The second Calvary Home Cottage, The White Family Cottage, was opened in 2006. This cottage was named in honor of a sibling group, the White Family, who needed and received incredible foster parents. Opening the White Family Cottage allowed Calvary Home to double the number of children Calvary Home served on its campus.
-
The third Calvary Home cottage, Mazzara Cottage, was built and was used multi-purposefully for several years until it began receiving children in 2017. This cottage was named in memory of Leslie Mazzara, a champion for child abuse and neglect awareness in the Upstate.
How We’ve Grown
-
The Vocational Arts Center (“The Barn”) was opened. This allowed Calvary Home to offer classes and extracurriculars to the children on campus. These classes range from basic cooking skills to plumbing repair, tool safety, and more.
-
Two new homes were added to our campus! The Cristel House and The Richardson House were built completely debt-free. Both homes have six bedrooms, four bathrooms, and plenty of room for foster families to thrive.
-
We partnered with a licensed clinical counselor to open his practice on campus. This allows our children and foster parents access to free counseling without leaving their backyard.
-
In order for us to remain true to who we are and what we believe, Calvary Home made the prayerful decision to stop receiving state and federal funding. As of 2020, our entire ministry is funded by supporters like you.
-
For the first time in Calvary’s history, all five cottages on campus were fully licensed and receiving foster placements. This allowed us to break our previous record number of children on campus!
