The Epic Rescue of A Runaway Crawdad
"All things bright and beautiful,
All creatures great and small, All things wise and wonderful, The Lord God made them all.
- Cecil F. Alexander
Down behind two of the Cottages winds a little creek. This creek provides opportunities for the children to explore, go fishing, and cool off on a hot summer day. One day last year, the kids found a Crawdad and brought him home to put in the aquarium in the cottage. He was promptly dubbed "Mr. Crabs."
Well this past week, foster parent Jim was walking through the cottage and noticed that Mr. Crabs had escaped the aquarium! (The investigation is still pending on whether or not he had help in his escape.) Mr. Crabs was sitting on the floor in the living room, not moving at all.
"Oh no, He's dead." Thought Jim.
Since Mr. Crabs was presumably dead, Jim finished his task before returning to the crawdad. Much to his surprise, Mr. Crabs had moved! In that moment, Jim decided that the best place for Mr. Crabs was in his natural habitat, where he could be free to roam and explore to his little hearts content. Jim gently picked up Mr. Crabs, climbed down the muddy creek bank, and set Mr. Crabs free.
At Calvary Home, you just never know what a day might bring. This particular day brought about the rescue of a runaway crawdad! If you ever see Mr. Crabs down at the creek, get him to tell you all about it!
