Here We Grow Again

It is with great joy and excitement that we are preparing to build two more homes on campus at Calvary Home. We currently have five homes filled with foster families. These new homes will allow us to potentially extend our ministry to 16 more children. That’s 16 more tiny humans who will receive daily love, care and stability. That’s 16 more students who will go to tutoring to get on track with their education and grow their love for learning. That’s 16 more children who will receive counseling services and heal from emotional trauma.

We don’t typically track statistics or numbers when dealing with our children because we believe these children are so much more than just numbers in a file. But 16 additional children on campus is a number that we can get very excited and also sad about. We are heartbroken that there will always be a need for more children to be cared for in the foster care system. That need goes well beyond the additional 16 we are stepping up to care for but it’s a start. But I’m also so incredibly thankful that Calvary Home exists to stand in the gap for these children.

The children on campus are receiving a level of love and care that extends far beyond what a typical foster child receives because there is a built-in village and community at Calvary Home. Our children are hearing the same message of God’s love for them from every family and staff at Calvary Home. The healing that occurs when our children hear about their Heavenly Father cannot be put into words in a newsletter, but it is one of the most beautiful things that occurs in our community.

We’re so thankful for all the people who have partnered with us so far to enable us to move forward with this next step. One of the homes will be named Westminster Cottage after a church who gifted us the funds to get started with this phase of building. We’re praying for subcontractors to partner with us to help us lower the building costs and also another partner to take us across the financial finish line and help us name our next home. We appreciate prayers for the building process, construction workers’ safety, future families, and children to come.
