Healing Families Through Foster Care

It's been three years now since little Dixon and Collin came to Calvary Home. They were only 7 years old and 4 months old when they arrived, and like most foster placements, we weren’t sure how long they would be with us.

As time went on, the boys made their home both in our cottages and in our hearts. We’ve seen them through the ups and downs that come with foster care – their biological mom terminated her rights as their mother while Dad worked tirelessly to get his boys back.

Over the years, their dad went to classes, got sober and fought to stay clean. He got a stable job, and continued to show up for visits with a smile on his face. Meanwhile, the boys were getting a first-hand view of what a thriving family looked like in a Calvary Home cottage, Dixon was progressing in school, and the boys got to stay together as siblings despite their age difference.

Several months ago, we learned that Dad was ready for his boys to come home. In order to maintain the most stability for both boys, DSS and the foster parents agreed that they should finish out the school year before the big move. Over the last couple of months, the boys were able to go stay with their dad on the weekends to slowly transition all three guys into a new routine.

We are so thrilled to be able to see this family reunited stronger than ever! We also put out a call on social media for some items that will help with the move and our followers SHOWED UP! Cups, water bottles, towels, and moving boxes were all provided by our Calvary Home village.

This is why Calvary Home exists! We strive for every child to be nurtured in a welcoming, reliable, and Christ-centered home and be united with their family as a more physically, emotionally, relationally, and academically stable individual. We truly believe that Dixon and Collin’s story perfectly personifies the mission here on our campus.

Thank you to everyone who has bought Christmas gifts for them over the years, sent in baseball gear for Dixon, prayed for our kids and families, supported our mission financially, or attended an event – all of this has helped lead this family back together as a stronger, healthier unit.
